Japan has many environments to explore and on this page I will introduce various rides that I have done that take more than one day to accomplish.
I will give as much practical information as I can about each trip including distance, approximate cycling time, amount of days and the general costs of getting to and from the route. In addition I will detailed directions for the route and also provide some information on accommodation.
I will also give reference to where I heard of the route, whether it be another website or a guide book so that you can check for yourself before you head out. I will try to introduce routes that are in Japanese publications, so that you can see what Japanese cyclists know about.
The links below are some of my rides. You can also find these links on the sidebar under the heading entitled Check these pages!
A Trip Through Tohoku (Aug.17-26, 2009)
Fukushima: A two day journey (Sept.18-20, 2009)
Shimanami Kaido- A December Island Hopping Ride in the Seto Island Sea (Dec. 22-25)

Great blog! Very informative and insightful. And your enthusiasm is infectious; I’ve lived in Japan for over 8 years and you’ve made it very tempting to dust off my bike and visit Tohoku!
Thanks for the encouragement!
I plan to ride from Aizu Wakamatsu to Shimokita peninsula (Mutsu-shi) beginning of August. This is my first big road trip. Your site provided me tons of useful information and pointers to resources. Thanks a lot! Keep up the good work.
